Chewing Gum Cooling: Engineering the 30-Minute Wave with WS-5

Gum is the ultimate test of a cooling agent’s endurance. How WS-5 and WS-10 keep a cooling curve alive for half an hour of chewing.
Chewing gum is the most demanding application in cooling chemistry: the matrix is chewed, mixed with saliva and stripped of volatiles continuously, yet the consumer expects the cool to last as long as the flavor – twenty minutes and beyond.
That is why long-acting grades dominate gum formulations. WS-5 delivers one of the longest cooling durations of any commercial coolant – a smooth, rounded wave centered on the palate that can persist up to 30 minutes. Liquid WS-10, heat-stable and persistent, complements it in coated gum and pellet formats where the cooling must survive the cooking and coating stages.
A common architecture: mint aroma from peppermint or dementholized mint oil up top, WS-5 for the enduring base, and a touch of WS-23 in the coating for an instant first impression. Dosage guidance by gum format – stick, pellet, bubble – is included with every sample request.
