Menthyl Lactate – Smooth Long-Lasting Skin Cooling
CAS: 59259-38-0 · FEMA: 3748
Menthol’s gentler cousin – softer onset, longer tail, kinder to skin.
Product Overview
Menthyl lactate is the ester of L-menthol and lactic acid. The lactate group slows release of the menthol moiety, producing a softer onset and a remarkably long, comfortable cooling sensation without the sharp bite of free menthol. It is nearly odorless, non-volatile and heat-stable, making it a cosmetic-industry favorite for skin creams, aftersun, shaving and cleansing products, as well as a mild oral-care coolant.
