What Is Cooling Agent WS-23?
Cooling Agent WS-23 is a food-grade synthetic cooling agent. Its chemical name is N,2,3-Trimethyl-2-isopropylbutanamide, and many buyers also know it as methyldiisopropylpropionamide. WS-23 pioneered the burst-cooling class, and it still sets the reference for fast cooling.
First, WS-23 builds its cooling from a compact branched amide instead of menthol. Therefore, it cools without any minty odor or taste. Second, it activates the TRPM8 cold receptor across the whole mouth and the throat. As a result, the burst arrives almost instantly and feels evenly spread.
Third, WS-23 leaves a remarkably clean finish. In other words, the coolness simply fades without the bitterness or numbness that menthol often brings. It also holds FEMA number 3804 and CAS number 51115-67-4. Consequently, it fits food, oral-care and cosmetic programs with no extra paperwork.
