What Is Cooling Agent WS-5?
Cooling Agent WS-5 is a food-grade synthetic cooling agent. Its chemical name is N-((Ethoxycarbonyl)methyl)-p-menthane-3-carboxamide. It comes from the menthol family, yet it ranks among the strongest agents in the WS series.
First, WS-5 stays virtually odorless and tasteless. Therefore, it cools the mouth without adding any mint aroma or bitterness. Second, it activates the TRPM8 cold receptor on the tongue and the roof of the mouth. As a result, the cooling starts smoothly and holds for more than 30 minutes.
Third, WS-5 carries a long record of food use, and it holds FEMA number 4309. It also carries CAS number 68489-14-5. Consequently, formulators choose it whenever the cooling must outlast the product itself.

Packaging Material
