Toothpaste Cooling Technology: From Menthol Burn to Clean

Modern toothpaste formulas replace menthol’s burn with WS-27 and WS-5: no bitterness, no flavor distortion, cooling that outlasts the brush.
Consumers equate ‘clean’ with ‘cool’ – but the cooling in a modern toothpaste is carefully engineered chemistry. Traditional menthol delivers aroma and a volatile flash of cool that fades before you finish brushing, and at higher levels it burns.
WS-series coolants changed the equation. WS-27 concentrates high-intensity cooling at the front of the mouth with no bitter aftertaste, while WS-5 extends the sensation well past rinsing. Typical toothpaste dosages of WS-10 run 150-1200 mg/kg depending on the freshness target.
Because the agents are virtually odorless, the flavorist keeps full control of the mint profile – spearmint stays spearmint. The result is a paste that feels colder, tastes cleaner and stays fresh longer, without a added harshness. Ask us for oral-care grade samples with COA.
